Regatta Venues
Our regatta venues span right across Europe, from Portugal in the West to in Poland in the East, from Denmark in the North to Croatia in the South and are set in some of Europe's most beautiful landscape. Some regattas are solely Laser events while others are part of bigger events such as the Hyères Week and Warnemünder Week.
Europa Cup regattas are organised so they fit in well with other events on the European calendar and where possible we try to group regattas in nearby locations together to make participation as convenient and cost effective as possible for sailors.
Our venue locations are carefully chosen and most of them have been tried and tested in previous years. The organising clubs are devoted to putting on well-organised events with the aim to provide quality racing in a professional and competitive environment.
If you are a club and are interested in organising a Europa Cup regatta, please email ILCA
Why sail in the Europa Cup?
Whether a sailor is training to improve his or her skills, preparing for a championship or simply wants to sail 'for the fun of it', the Europa Cup caters for all Laser sailors and all skill levels.
The high degree of competition offers the sailors great training sessions, the chance to watch the competition & learn new skills, while a good apres-sail social atmosphere gives sailors the opportunity to relax, meet & make new friends and maybe even have a dance at the evening parties.
Europa Cup regattas offer the sailor the kind of variety and 'unpredictability' which is paramount to training and improving sailing skills and tactics. In comparison to weekly club racing for example, sailors are faced with competitors from a variety of countries with a variety of different skill sets. In addition, all venues differ in terms of wind strength, swell and currents which challenge the sailors to adapt to local conditions.
Our regattas are specifically organised for the Laser class, with ILCA Standard sailing instructions and Notice of Race, and an ILCA representative at each regatta.
Some of the regattas will also be used by some countries as qualification events for their national championships.
And if all that has not convinced you, the winners of the Europa Cup and the Youth Grand Prix win a brand new sail!
Women Laser 4.7 sailing
Typically, women tend to race in the Laser Radial rig. However, there is a growing demand among women to race in the Laser 4.7 rig, a perfect option for leight weight sailors who enjoy competitive and exciting racing. Since 2007, women are able to race in the Laser 4.7 rig at our Europa Cup regattas, with a separate prize to be won.
Whether you sail Laser Standard, Radial or 4.7, whether male or female, youth or adult, the Europa Cup offers quality racing in a competitive but friendly environment, so come and join the fun!
