Europa Cup Croatia: Results from the last regatta in 2009 can be found here

The Laser Europa Cup & Youth Grand Prix is a highly contested series of regattas run through-out the year in Europe. Encompassing all Laser rigs and age ranges and with a diverse range of venues and challenging competition the Europa cup is a rewarding annual challenge for Laser sailors.

The Cup is open to any Laser sailor as long as they are members with their national class association (see Entry Regulations ). The 2008 series attracted over 1300 competitors. The majority of sailors are of course European, however, as the sailing season winds down in the southern hemisphere, competitors from overseas are joining in to battle it out in Europa Cup regattas like Hoorn in the Netherlands and Warnemünde in Germany. In 2008, the Europa Cup series saw Olympic sailors like Canadian Mike Leigh, Dominican Republic’s Raul Aguayo and Malaysia’s Kevin Lim participating in preparation for Quingdao.

If you fancy competing in your Laser in a ISAF grade 2 or 3 event against talented up-and-coming sailors as well as sailors from the top of the ISAF ranking list, why not join us in the beautiful European venues in 2009. Use the menu bar on the left to navigate through the Europa Cup pages. If you want to return to the International Laser Class homepage, simply select ILCA Homepage at the top of the page.

Don't forget to pack...

The 2009 Europa Cup season is about to start, so here is a short reminder of the essentials you need to bring to the regatta, other than your boat and equipment of course:

  • Proof of membership: You need to show proof that you are a member of your national Laser Association, so bring along your membership card or a letter from your association confirming your membership.
  • Proof of age: You need to show proof of your date of birth, so if your membership card does not have the date of birth on it, bring along your passport or identity card to registration.
  • ISAF number: If you have not already got an ISAF number, make sure to register with ISAF before your first regatta and tell the organizers your ISAF number. If you have forgotten your ISAF number you can search for it on the ISAF website. The ISAF number is obligatory and sailors will only be included in the overall ranking if they have an ISAF number.
  • Insurance: Make sure that you have adequate accident and health insurance as well as third party liability insurance. The level of insurance you need may be different from regatta to regatta, so make sure you check the Notice of Race for insurance information.
