Yesterday, a very shifty and puffy wind of up to 15 kn from the shore replaced the usual sea breeze, sufficient for two races in all fleets. With the discard coming into effect, some more or less important changes in the classifications happened, and in some classes clear contenders for the title have emerged. In the Radial Master fleet e.g., Carlos Wanderley BRA distanced himself clearly from the rest, the classification of the Radial Great Grand Masters is led by Peter Seidenberg USA with 4 bullets and Richard Bott AUS in the Radial Apprentice category has also a clear lead. Inspite of an premature start, Peter Heywood AUS remains on the first place of the Radial Grand Masters. In the other categories, the rankings are in general tighter, e.g. with the Lasers Standard, where Brett Beyer AUS remains very close with the leading Adonis Bougiouris GRE in the Standard Apprentice fleet. In the Standard Masters group with Scott Ferguson USA leading, the first 7 boats are separated by 10 points only. Wolfgang Gerz GER has also a fierce chaser with Mark Bethwaite AUS in the Standard Grand Masters category. Today is the lay day in Halifax. The event goes on until Saturday. The official report.
