The first day of racing for nearly 200 boats at Lake Lugano was scheduled for 1pm unfortunately no one told the wind, which finally arrived from the South at 3pm. However two races were sailed, in the difficult conditions.
In the Standard rigs Oleksander Isakov had the closest thing to a consistent day with 1,5 with the other race winner bring Christoph Bottoni who was 22nd in the first race but won the second. In the first race the right side paid but in the second it was left so perhaps this accounts for the high scores.
The Radials, which are the largest fleet the sailors found it even harder to be consistent with Mario Sesevic getting 1,24 (after a capsize) and Giovanni Coccoluto getting 24,1. The overall leader and the only person to have two results in the top ten is Alessandro Merega with 5,5.
Lastly the 4.7s saw even more extreme results with Viboux 1, 32 and Pescini 32,1 well behind overnight leader Virag Zsofia who had 3,5.
With light southerly winds forecast again for Saturday it looks like being a high scoring regatta.
