Laser - World Championship 2009 - Halifax CAN - Day 3

On the third day of the Worlds, two physically demanding races have been sailed in each group in a fresh breeze of around 22 kn. Moreover, the Jury came after formal protests to the conclusion, that the group with the numerous early start disqualifications of the previous day could resail the 3rd race. With this, some changes in the overall rankings were the consequences with Nick Thompson GBR as the new leader. Tonci Stipanovic CRO and Paul Goodison GBR follow on the positions 2 and 3. Julio Alsogaray ARG was one of the winners of the day who - with 2 bullets - advanced to the 4th and Philippe Buhl GER to the 5th place overall. 163 entrants from 51 nations participate.
After the races, the Lasers were stored inside the buildings of the organising club as today, the hurricane 'Bill' is supposed to pass the Nova Scotia coast with a wind exceeding 50 kn and waves of over 3 meters. The results and the official daily report.
