In the Laser Standard medal race at Sail for Gold in Weymouth GBR, Tom Slingsby AUS had to deal with 2008 Olympic Champion Paul Goodison GBR to maintain his claim of gold. He did so effectively, hanging a penalty on Goodison that put the Brit to the back and into silver. Michael Leigh CAN picked up Bronze, while David Wright CAN won the race to claim sixth overall. The Laser Radial Women battled to the end after a grueling week with long days on the water and precious few races to show for it on occasions. Marit Bouwmeester NED came away with Gold after dominating early in the week and briefly relinquishing her lead later. And how about World Champion Sari Multala? She wasnt even qualified for the medal race at the start of Fridays racing, but sailed a fantastic comeback to take home Silver. New Zealands Sara Winter took Bronze.
