Laser - Olympic Worldcup - Sail for Gold - Weymouth GBR - Day 1

With 105 entrants, the Lasers Standard are once more by far the largest fleet at an Olympic World Cup event. A unusual shifty and puffy NE breeze around 15 kn from the shore made racing tactically difficult for the class, split in two fleets. Tom Slingsby AUS, winning the first two races, mastered the challenging conditions the best. Jesper Stilheim SWE and Johan Wigforss SWE followed on the ranks 2 and 3. The World and European Champion Paul Goodison GBR however had a real bad day with the ranks 20 and 10, and finds himself actually on the 21st position. The rankings Laser Standard.
In the Laser Radial class, mostly the experienced sailors are on top. With two race wins, Sari Multala FIN is leading ahead of Evi Van Acker BEL and Sophie de Turckheim FRA. 58 Radials participate. Anna Tunniclife USA is missing. She participates in the Women's Matchracing at the Weymouth 'Sail for Gold'. The Laser Radial rankings.
