With 39 Lasers Standard and 28 Radials, the Lasers are once more the biggest fleet in Qingdao as well. The fleets sailed two races each in challenging conditions with a big swell and a tricky 2 to 25 kn wind.
First leader in the Lasers Standard is Cy Thompson ISV, the only athlete with two top-10 results. William De Smet BEL and Jean-Baptiste Bernaz FRA followed on the ranks 2 and 3. The last year's winner Tonci Stipanovic CRO has a race win and a 27th place on his result sheet.
First in the Lasers Radial are Manami Doi JPN and Dongshuang Zhang CHN at equal points on top, one point ahead of Hannah Snellgrove GBR. The favorites had a difficult time: Tatjana Droszdowskaja BLR is 9th, Allison Young GBR follows on rank 15.
