Today, the World Laser MastersÂ’ Championships in Hayling Island GBR begin with the Practice Race. A grand total of 359 entries were registered. Twelve races are scheduled to take place from Sept. 13 to 19 with Sept. 16 reserved as rest day. The competition will take place in four age groups: Apprentices (35-44), Masters (45-54), Grand Masters (55-64), Great Grand Masters (65+ on Laser Radials). A total of 11 trophies will be awarded: Laser Standard (Men) Apprentice, Master, Grand Master; Laser Radial (Women) Apprentice, Master, Grand Master and Great Grand Master; Laser Radial (Combined Men/Women) Apprentice, Masters, Grand Masters, Great Grand Masters. The multiple Masters Champion Peter Seidenberg (GGM), former Laser Standard and Finn world champion, John Bertrand (M) former Finn world champion Wolfgang Gerz GER (GM), Arnoud Hummel NED (M) and 5.5 Meter Olympic Gold medalist 1968 Peter Sundelin SWE (GM) are among the notables.
