Laser Europa Cup Breitenbrunn, AUT – Day 1

in

The first race of the Austrian Laser Europa Cup in Breitenbrunn started right on time at 2.00pm sharp. 85 sailors, 30 standard, 29 radial, and 26 4.7 from 12 countries registered on site for the regatta.

A breeze of 16-18 knots from around 260-280 degrees, with holes of 8-10 knots and shifts of 20-25 degrees made the conditions challenging. But overall two good races were run under the able hands of the PRO.
Unfortunately, there is no proper international jury on the regatta, just a four member Arbitration Committee. This is pity, and unusual for an Europa Cup event. On land. beyond the warm local hospitality, sailors could experience some unpleasent surprises, like to lack of internet access,  or the lack of access to the event site after 8.00pm on arrival day. But overall the regatta got to a good start. Fingers cross for good sailing conditions for tomorrow as well.
