Laser 4.7 - World Championship 2009 - Buzios BRA

After last week's successful ISAF Youth World Championship with Elisabeth Yin SIN winning the Laser Radial Girls and Sam Meech NZL the Laser Radial Boys title, the Brazilian sailing paradise Buzios is getting ready for the next big event. Coming Friday, the Laser 4.7 World Championship gets underway with two measurement days. Racing begins on Sunday 26th July. On the enty list, there are 149 participants from 28 nations. Host nation Brasil is represented by a 49 participants delegation, among them Luca Mazzaferro, one of the most named favorites. But also Giovanni Coccoluto from Italy ITA, who dominated all the Laser 4.7 Europacups this season, has good chances for a first title. On the girls side, Pernelle Michon FRA finishing 9th at this years Radial Youth Europeans, Patricia Coro ESP, 4th at last years 4.7 Worlds or Daniela Zimmermann PER, top ten sailor at the Opti Worlds 2005, are going for the title.
