Trofeo S.A.R. Princess Sofia MAPFRE
The third event in the 2009-2010 ISAF World Cup calendar kicked off with good conditions in Palma de Majorca, despite there being lighter winds than expected.
With partially cloudy skies, the South/Southwest winds were forecast to start at 10 knots and increase throughout the day to up to 20 knots. However, the 6 to 8 knot winds that greeted the sailors was ideal for the light wind specialists competing in the event.
At the end of the day, the top of the Laser leaderboard was very close with Tonci Stipanovic (CRO) at the top, followed by Andreas Geritzer (AUT) and Clay Johnson (USA). In the Laser Radials Veronika Fenclova (CZE) ended the day in first, with Evi Van Acker (BEL) in second and Tina Mihelic (CRO) in third.
