For the last day of the Hyeres Europa Cup Regatta all weather-forecast sites were predicting strong winds, and so happened to be. The base wind speed was around 20-24 knots, but at times this increased to 25-26 knots, so only one race was run for all fleets.
For the standards the podium has been monopolized by Swedish sailors: Jesper Stalheim, Emil Cerdergardh, and David Jonsson shared the prizes. For the radials the podium was shared between: Marci Rudawski POL, Louis Moysan FRA and Mattis Naud FRA.
For the L4.7 the leader board was: Leo Vilboux FRA, Guillome Rigot SUI and Jean Baptiste Guillou FRA.
The complete list of results will be available at the www.coych.org website.
Overall, the event was characterized by the record number of participants, the excellent on-water race management, and good and fair sailing most of the time.
It looks like, at this stage, that in 2011 the French Europa Cup regatta will move to La Rochelle, but will come back in 2012 to Hyeres. Perhaps by that time the event IT services (on line registration, informative and up-to-date web site, including results for each age categories, etc.) could be improved to make participants more satisfied, and friends and relatives better informed. Also, maybe the number (and quality) of the prizes given to the victors could be adjusted to better reflect the large fleet sizes (and more in line with the ILCA recommendations).
