The day started promising as the sun was shining and all expected some see breeze to develop. The Race Committee reinstated the abandoned races for the Laser Standard and the Laser 4.7 fleets and the group of Laser Radials which completed properly the course (this was actually race 1). So at the scheduled time of 11 o’clock the first Laser radial group of race 1 had to (re)run a race to get a complete round robin. Unfortunately, the see breeze never materialized, there was no more than 3-4 knots of sustained wind. On the other have the tidal current increased steadily up to 1.5-2.0 knots. This meant that only a handful of competitors managed to get to the windward mark, those slightly behind never got a chance to round the mark. The course was duly shortened, and the first few managed to complete this race while the others got DNF. As no more racing was feasible, all fleets completed 3 races in the regatta. For the Laser Standards the podium was shared by three Dutch competitors: Bouwe Broekens, Jochem-Bart Haakman and Serge Kats. For the Laser Radials the top three were: Ben Koppelaar NED, Marit Bouwmeester NED and Jon Emmett, GBR. As far as the 4.7 go, at the time of compiling this report the final results were not yet available.
