The second days racing at Lugano was once again a long one, with the Southerly wind not settling until three PM. However the race officer’s team are hoping for an earlier start tomorrow.
In the Standard rig Christoph Bottoni who has been suffering with a bad back this winter scored a good day with a 6,1 to move him into the overall lead at the halfway stage. Race three was won by fellow Swiss Christian Steiger. At this stage Yan Chekh is the only sailor to have scored in the top ten in every race so the competition is still wide open.
In the Radials Tatina Drozdovskaya scored a 2,3 to move her into the lead by a single point from Mario Sesevic. However she is currently dropping a 13 compared to Sesevic 24th. Yesterdays overnight leader Alessandro Merega drops to fifth now the first discard has kicked in. The race winners today where both from Italy with Giovanni Coccoluto taking the first race of the day and Mario Benini the second.
In the 4.7s Noora Koskiahde has been able to discard an early OCS to lead the series, scoring a 2,3 today. The race winners once again had a inconsistent day with Ida Voutilaienen winning the first race of the day and following it with a 32nd. Tora Sebahattin Kutoglu took the final race of the day.
The forcast for the third day of racing looks like light Southerly winds again.
